Hobby Wiles

TH “Hobby” Wiles, retired pastor of Robert Road Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, died Dec. 27.

“Hobby Wiles served faithfully as a pastor in Arizona Southern Baptist churches for decades,” said David Johnson, Arizona Southern Baptist Convention executive director. “He will also be remembered as the one who directed Paradise Valley Baptist Conference Center for many years and was instrumental in seeing many children and young people come to Christ in that ministry.”

Wiles was founding pastor of Robert Road Baptist Church, and nothing excited him more than to “stir the waters of baptism.”

He lived his life to honor God, and his motto was “To God Be the Glory!”

“His legacy can be seen in three generations of pastors in his family following his example of serving the Lord,” Johnson said. “Hobby’s ministry continues in the lives of those he touched. Only in eternity will the full impact of Hobby’s life and ministry be seen!”

Hobby is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Joyce; his son Ricky (Joyce), daughter Theresa; four grandsons and their wives: Jeremy (Krystal) Wiles, Michael (Kayla) Wiles, Joshua (Rachel) Walton and Jordan (Lexi) Walton; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held at Robert Road Baptist Church Dec. 31.
