This past November, Tierra Fértil Church in Yuma achieved the goal that God placed in its heart: to go and share the good news of the love of Jesus with a community in the city of Vícar, located in the province of Almería, Spain.
With great love, effort and a clear vision to share the message beyond their borders, 14 people were sent by Tierra Fértil. They united and contributed each according to their ability, understanding that when the church comes together and works to fulfill the purpose for which it exists, the mission can always be accomplished.
Those who were sent embraced their commitment with determination and, in just one week, carried out events that impacted not only several churches within the community, but also the people who live throughout the region.
For the first time, the organizers of Unity fulfilled a dream they had carried in their hearts for years, and through diligence and perseverance saw it become a reality: Unity Spain. Josué Castro, Arizona Mission Network Hispanic ministries facilitator and pastor of Tierra Fértil, was part of this delegation and, together with the director of Unity and young organizers, made possible this event that has continued to gain strength among Hispanic churches in Arizona.
The team not only succeeded in demonstrating the love and message of our Lord Jesus Christ to the young people gathered there but also brought together an impressive number of youth worshiping God inside an evangelical church — something remarkable for that region. The event allowed young people from different churches to connect with one another, feel supported, and, above all, be reminded of the great love that God has always had for them and continues to show them.
Joyful and deeply grateful to God, the Tierra Fértil team continued its work after Unity Spain by hosting a community event entitled “Mexican Cultural Festival” in a park in Vícar. The local community warmly welcomed this event, which was filled with laughter, vibrant colors and the joy of Mexican culture.

A workshop was held to teach how to make piñatas, and traditional Mexican games such as lotería were enjoyed and greatly appreciated by the children. Attendees also sampled Mexican sweets, including peanut marzipan, tamarind candies with a touch of spice, and delicious coconut treats shaped and colored like the Mexican flag. Mexican souvenirs such as small clay pots, mini zarapes, and small sombreros among many other items brought from the United States were also given away.
Following this joyful and highly fruitful event, a conference was held and presented by Josué Castro, who taught the local church about evangelism for three hours. Those in attendance left encouraged to continue sharing the message of salvation and deeply thankful for the teaching they received.
To conclude their time in Vícar, the team sent by Tierra Fértil led worship and shared the Word of God on Sunday morning. The church was completely full, as attendees from the Unity event returned to continue worshiping God and fellowshipping with the team from Arizona and the members of the local church.
Tierra Fértil joyfully shares the blessing of being obedient to God’s calling, the importance of persevering and not growing weary, and, above all, the help and support that the Lord provides to those who are willing to say, “Here I am.”
During this time, God taught this steadfast church that not only does the one who goes matter, but also the one who sends, and that it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive.
