Dean, retired McQueen Road pastor, dies

Raymond (Ray) Lee Dean, retired pastor of McQueen Road Baptist Church, Chandler, died Sept. 25. He was 66.

Before he accepted the call to pastor, he served as deacon in his church and as director of Discipleship Training and family development in the Apache (now Valley Rim) Association.
He was a member of the 1995 inaugural class of the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary’s Arizona Campus. He served as a bivocational pastor and worked full time at Salt River Project while earning his degree. At his 2007 graduation, he was presented with the Dan & Harriet Stringer Award, given to students who demonstrate perseverance through difficulty in achieving their seminary degrees.

Dean retired from McQueen Road Baptist Church as senior pastor earlier this year.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Dean; son Raymond Lee Dean Jr. (Belinda); daughter Bridgett Dean; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and an extended family of “adopted” grandchildren and great grandchildren.
