Jim Haggard is the pastor at Tonopah Valley Baptist Church. At 96 years old, he has more than 60 years of ministry experience.

At the age of 96,  Jim Haggard has spent 66 years in ministry, preaching the gospel around Arizona and the world.

Since 2021, Haggard has served as the pastor of Tonopah Valley Baptist Church.

When AZMN executive director Monty Patton sat down with Haggard earlier this summer,  he asked him about the secret to longevity in ministry and life.

“I think my wife is the reason I have longevity in life,” Haggard said. “She lived to be 90. And we were married 73 years. She was a strong woman. We did everything together …  And I just enjoyed life totally, 100 percent, because God called me, and I understand when He calls you it’s irrevocable. So that’s my longevity in life.”

As for the secret to so many years in ministry? Haggard attributes that to his approach toward people.

I think the reason, if I’ve had any success, is because I love people dearly,” Haggard said. “I love every one of them, whether they’re nice to me or not, doesn’t matter. I still love them.”
