Russell and Arizona Valko*
Russell and Arizona serve in a South Asian country that is one percent Christian. That means most of the 9 million they serve among will be born, live their whole lives and die without ever meeting a Christian or hearing about Jesus. Their primary work is to plant churches, and they use Paul’s strategy from Acts: (1) Enter the area; (2) Evangelize; (3) Disciple the believers; (4) Gather the believers; (5) Appoint leaders; (6) Exit to partnerships. Russell shares: “All this is impossible without the power of the Holy Spirit and all the prayers we can get.” The other part of their ministry is challenging current believers that every Christian is called to be on mission. The Valkos have two grown children, a married daughter and a son serving in the Navy.
How to Pray
-
For God to lead them in their new location to a person
of peace in order to get established. -
For their visa procedure — their ability to serve is complicated, and their first year will determine if they will be able to stay long term.
