Don Vickers

Don Vickers leads Arizona Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, a partner of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, one of the largest disaster response agencies in the U.S. Currently, 300 trained volunteers from local churches in Arizona work together to bring help, healing and hope after a disaster, such as a fire or flood. In 2024, AZDR teams helped in Houston, Texas; Ruidoso, New Mexico; locations in Florida; and the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. AZDR teams may be involved in clearing an area of downed trees with chainsaws, removing flood-damaged walls and flooring, helping prepare meals for disaster survivors, managing the shower/laundry unit serving DR volunteers and first responders and praying with homeowners while assessing the level of damage to their homes. The most important part of this ministry is the encouragement provided to individuals by DR chaplains and team members. When disaster strikes, a person can feel alone and depressed. Arizona Disaster Relief teams pray and share God’s love in the midst of pain, suffering and loss. The Arizona Mission Offering provides much-needed funds for this ministry.
