Ken Herman
Ken, a retired prison chaplain, was named director of chaplaincy for the Arizona Mission Network of Southern Baptists in 2024. Chaplains serve communities in ways the average church leader cannot. Their calling is to shoulder the burdens of people in crisis, every day. As a result, chaplains can grow discouraged and weary. To continue their good work without growing weary, chaplains need leaders supporting them. Ken is working to establish a chaplaincy program to support chaplains serving in Arizona who are endorsed by the North American Mission Board. This also entails helping churches become aware of local chaplains. Ken is advising churches on the important ministry of chaplains and working to bring local churches’ support to those serving as chaplains. The Hermans are members of Avondale Baptist Church.
