Meet Arizona Missionaries

Jesus Bustamante

Jesus and his wife, Rosita, were sent to the US by a company for whom he has worked the past 21 years. When they crossed the border from Nogales, Mexico, to Nogales, AZ, they saw the need for a Baptist Hispanic church on the Arizona side, so they planted Iglesia Border Light. They saw a building that had been abandoned for over 35 years and started praying for it. It was listed for $341,000 and the Bustamantes offered $170,000. The owner, who was an elderly man living in Denver, countered for $182,000. He said that if it was going to be to used as a church, he was willing to let it go for that amount. They are in the process of remodeling and are very happy God has called them to plant a church in Nogales. Jesus is the lead pastor and is bi-vocational. Jesus and Rosita have three children, two that are married, and a single daughter living in Phoenix.

How to Pray

  • For the unity of the church, we are growing and having many spiritual challenges with very
    religious people.
  • For the remodeling process and for a used van to pick up people at the border.
  • For the ministry to an orphanage in Nogales, Mexico, that has over 40 children who have been abandoned by parents, many due to drug traffic, etc.
