George & Pauline Mungai
George and Pauline followed God’s call to plant Neema Community Church, a congregation for Swahili-speaking communities in the Phoenix metro area. Swahili is a common dialect in six countries in East Africa: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Congo, Rwanda and South Sudan. In 2024, Neema Community Church reached beyond its local walls and partnered with four other churches to go “on mission” and take the gospel to Kenya. They are praying and planning another trip to Kenya in 2025. In addition, the Mungais have led their church to launch a girls’ rescue center, Victory Center, with the capacity of housing up to 30 girls. Laveen Baptist Church is the sending church of Neema Community Church, which is supported by the Cooperative Program through the North American Mission Board.
